Grab the Champagne
Grab the champagne, throw on your most fabulous dress and highest heels and then get comfy for a witty and charming trip to Paris. That is what I should have done last weekend after picking up Paris Hangover by Kirsten Lobe but I was dubious about it's "holding" qualities.
This book managed to hold me until 3 in the morning when I finally turned the last page.
We meet Klein just as she decides her "perfect" life full of money, class, and glamor isn't fulfilling her. And so she packs up a few items, her crazy cat and jumps on a plane to Paris to find her dream of true love, family and deep happiness is something many have always dreamed about but few actually do it. Think about how many times you have planned out your big move. Some great adventure you have dreamed about since you were a kid. I have always wanted to travel the world non stop but I haven't had the nerve to just pack up on my own and move to a place where I don't know anyone, have no job, no home to do it.
Before I ramble to far from my point let me stop to say, Klein gives us who dream a little hope that it can be done. Of course it is still far from perfect. Along the way to her dream she has to deal with disgusting men, a crazy cat, and loneliness. Every minute is worth it.
Lobe created a book that reminds me of Sex in the City with out the cynicism and bitterness. It was just as interesting without making me feel I should settle for any man.
I truly enjoyed this book and my only regret is I didn't dress for the occasion.
